TNB Fuel has been invited by the Energy Commission to participate in the 22nd AFOC Council meeting and its associated meetings in Jakarta, Indonesia. The AFOC Council meeting was chaired by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ir. Ts. Abdul Razib bin Dawood, Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission, with TNB Fuel acting as a key representative and focal point of the Malaysian delegation.

Under the theme “Enhancing Energy Connectivity and Market Integration in ASEAN to Achieve Energy Security, Accessibility, Affordability, and Sustainability for All,” and the sub-theme “Accelerating Energy Transition and Strengthening Energy Resilience through Greater Innovation and Cooperation,” all ASEAN members are committed to achieving their energy transition goals.

Simultaneously, despite projections of decline, coal’s role in the power generation mix in Southeast Asia remains crucial due to infrastructure lock-in, the affordability of coal-generated electricity, and the high costs associated with early retirement of coal plants.
