TECHNICAL FORUM 2024: INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE FUEL POWER

Marriott Hotel, Putrajaya / TNB Research Sdn. Bhd.

19 November 2024 – 20 November 2024

In 2020, the Energy Commission conducted a Boiler Tube Failure (BTF) study, concluding that a knowledge-sharing platform could significantly reduce the recurrence of BTF incidents. This led to the introduction of the Technical Forum, designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and industry improvement through:

  1. Knowledge Sharing and Competency Development: Disseminating insights to enhance technical expertise across the industry.
  2.
  3. Benchmarking Best Practices: Identifying and adopting strategies to improve plant efficiency and performance.
  4.
  5. Problem Solving: Facilitating discussions to address and resolve industry challenges.
  6.
  7. Networking Opportunities: Connecting professionals to drive collaboration and industry advancement.
  8.

The 2024 Technical Forum, hosted by TNBF, co-hosted by Single Buyer, and supported by the Energy Commission, was held from 19–20 November 2024 under the theme: “Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Fuel Power.” This theme aligns with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap 2050 (NETR), a strategic initiative to shift the nation’s energy systems from fossil fuels to cleaner, more sustainable alternatives, including renewable fuel co-firing. The roadmap addresses climate change, enhances energy security, and promotes sustainability across electricity generation, transportation, industry, and residential energy use.

The event brought together approximately 100 key stakeholders, creating a dynamic and impactful gathering. A highlight of the forum was the opening speech by YBhg. Dato’ Ir. Ts. Abdul Razib bin Dawood, CEO of the Energy Commission, whose leadership and support continue to drive the nation’s energy transition goals.

The program featured a full-day forum at Marriott Hotel, Putrajaya, followed by a half-day technical visit to TNB Research Sdn. Bhd. laboratory services. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions, shared experiences, and explored innovative solutions to advance the energy transition. The forum has received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with stakeholders commending its relevance and impact on day-to-day operations and long-term strategic goals.

In summary, the Technical Forum 2024 served as a valuable platform to enhance technical competencies, foster industry collaboration, and support Malaysia’s vision for a cleaner, more sustainable energy system by 2050.
